Mrs. Claus Bourbon Cocktail

I am feeling a bit like Mr. and Mrs. Claus these days.  I don’t mean this as a slight to my husband, who IS very helpful – nor to single parents who do dual duty every day.  But, in the literal sense, I am Santa (checking the lists, gathering the gifts, wrapping, etc) and Mrs. Claus (managing the regular day-to-day stuff around the house and beyond).  It’s no different than the rest of the year, except that it seems to come to a frantic head in December.

Things did finally start to wind down last week.  Teacher gifts got distributed, baking was done, school programs/concerts were over.  In a rare moment of “quiet”, I took to Pinterest for another project and got lured by a photo of this cocktail (click HERE).  It had everything that has captured the interest of my taste buds lately – cranberry, brown spirits, and rosemary simple syrup…I knew it must be made, immediately!

Mrs.Claus Bourbon Cocktail

I found this similar to the Cranberry Old Fashioned I made recently.  The rosemary simple syrup and cinnamon, though, really make a difference.  This time you’ll note that I *did* use bourbon, which was fabulous. I was so pleased with my first experiment that I didn’t even give it a try with rye.  And, I am pleased to have yet another beverage to make with rosemary simple syrup.

Helpful tip: Rosemary simple syrup makes a lovely homemade gift. This information may not be helpful to know on Christmas Eve – but I promise you that your friends and family won’t turn away this gift even after the holidays. It’s an easy recipe to double or triple. So to all of you on dual duty today, always, or just going crazy with all the multi-tasking, Cheers!  And, Happy Christmas Eve!
